If a patient during surgery visualizes that he is in a pleasant environment, his fear and pain are significantly reduced. The new technique will allow to do without general anesthesia in many cases.
According to a study presented at the conference EuroHeartCare 2014, visualization of being in a pleasant location significantly reduces pain in patients during medical procedures.
Danish nurses put patients into a trance state, which helped them cope with the pain and the fear during the ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF). Continue reading
Modern civilization accepts as real only what is visible and measurable. The existence of a phenomenon is ascertained through the analysis of its mechanism and examined from the results and consequences.
But science often gets puzzled by phenomena for which there is no reasonable explanation as it happens in cases of self-healing, which have become increasingly common in recent years.
The fact that the body is affected by the spirit is generally accepted and reflected in language, since in our daily lives we often use such common phrases as “take my breath away” when being scared or shocked, “break my heart ” when suffering from emotional pain and other similar idioms that connect the feelings and emotions with the body.
What happens when people find a solution without the intervention of science in difficult medical cases or when a placebo pill is enough to fix an injury suffered by the human body? Is it about willpower or faith, is it a kind of miracle or does human indeed have the ability to heal himself?
According to the studies of cellular and molecular levels of the human body, there is no doubt that… read more
I recently read a very interesting book by Lissa Rankin, M.D. The book was entitled “Mind Over Medicine”, and it really got me thinking about my own life, as well as my own strengths and abilities, at least in regard to my health. The basis of the book, which was written by a medical doctor who became frustrated with modern medicine, focuses on the amazing and powerful abilities we all hold within ourselves to heal. Don’t get me wrong; Dr. Rankin believes modern medicine most certainly has its place in the world. However, she advocates that we also have the ability within ourselves to heal and change certain circumstances.
Have you ever believed something so strongly that it felt true? Have you ever been convinced of an outcome ever before you engaged in an activity, and then you found Continue reading
We know so little about the human abilities that some simple truths can confound even a scientist. The placebo effect is one of those events that just lead modern science to a quandary. Can a dummy pill together with a person’s faith really work miracles?
The amazing power of placebo has been repeatedly confirmed in various studies. Moreover, it is confirmed all the time in the analysis of drugs whose effectiveness is compared with the effect of pacifiers. Pain, depression, and certain neurological diseases are particularly amenable to treatment with dummy pills. The power of one’s faith is enough even for the effect of “fake” surgeries. American biologist claims that genes can be affected by signals located in the external environment of the cell, such as thoughts, feelings and emotions.
Cell biologist Dr. Bruce X. Lipton (formerly professor of medical courses in high school and now scientific researcher) was one of the first scientists who detected this effect. Having performed a series of experiments, he revealed that the cell membrane is an organic analogue of a computer chip.
Although these views conflict with the scientific doctrine, which states that genes are those that control behavior, similar publications of other researchers have strengthen this view. Continue reading
When we face obstacles in our lives we not always try to overcome them by ourselves, but we rather tend to believe that we will certainly get some help from the world. We listen to the advice of friends and not-so-friends, family, read all sorts of articles and watch television programs and wait. Suggestion, which is a pretty powerful tool, plays a very important role here.
However, it is not always able to help us, and very often it may even do harm. Everyone has heard stories about how someone robbed people using suggestion. But you can also remember the stories with happy endings, for example, the ones about the placebo effect. Continue reading
In this article I will show you a small, simple experiment that anyone can do to see with his own eyes how the mind affects the body. We all know the most famous principle of quantum physics which states that the observer affects the observed. There are thousands of books and articles on how the mind generates almost all diseases in our body.
With this simple experiment you will see what happens in life or, in particular, how the quality of your thoughts is implemented in your body.
Close your eyes… make some deep breaths and relax your body. If you have never performed any form of relaxation techniques before, then you can use your breath. Focus on your breathing and notice how your body expands during inhalation and how it contracts during exhalation. It is very likely that after about 10 cycles of breaths you will be relaxed enough.
If this has not happened sufficiently, you can relax your body “manually”. Focus your attention on the bottom of your feet and visualize that with each inhalation you get golden light, which goes to your feet, and with each exhalation the tension is removed from your feet. Do as many cycles as necessary until you feel completely relaxed, and then proceed to Continue reading
The most important thing about the subconscious mind you need to know is that it is always “on”. That is, it is active day and night, regardless of whether you are doing. The subconscious mind controls your body. You cannot hear this silent inner process with your conscious effort. You need to start taking care of your subconscious mind. It is vital to maintain your mind in a state of expectation of only good events and make the usual mode of your thinking based solely on loyalty, justice and love.
Faith and belief are the foundation of the subconscious. Do not forget that “you will be rewarded according to your faith”.
A Protestant minister who suffered from lung cancer wrote about his methods of transferring thoughts of perfect health into his subconscious mind: “Two or three times a day, I put my body and soul in a relaxed state, repeating these words: “My feet are completely relaxed, my legs are relaxed. Right now my stomach muscles are relaxing. My heart is beating quietly, my breathing is calm and relaxed. My head is completely relaxed, my whole body is completely relaxed and calm.” After about five minutes, when I got into a drowsy, sleepy state, I repeated: Continue reading
Dr. Joe Dispenza claims that every time we learn something new, hundreds of thousands of our neurons change, which affects the state of our physical body.
Dr. Dispenza is known worldwide for his original theory of the connection between mind and matter. The scientist gained his greatest fame after the release of his acclaimed documentary «We know what makes a signal» in 2004. His research helped disclose the extraordinary possibilities of consciousness and its ability to create synaptic connection with a strong concentration.
Just imagine: with each new sensation, vision or emotional experience a new connection between two of more than Continue reading
We have all heard of the miraculous placebo effect: you take a simple aspirin strongly believing that it will reduce your cholesterol and it does! While the positive effects of placebo pills or treatments are widely known, very little is told about nocebo. The nocebo effect is the negative reaction experienced by a patient who takes a harmless substance.
Positive vs. negative thinking
Human body responds positively or negatively depending on cultural norms, superstitions, suspicions or schemas, models transmitted from early childhood. The tendency to experience pleasure or the reluctance of facing life events, come from both our education and genetic heritage. Continue reading
